If you are starting to consider going to automotive school to become a bus service technician, you may not know much about the industry that you are about to enter. This type of industry involves the unique experience and expertise of a technician that is not only fluid in general auto mechanics but also that's fluid in the mechanics of a bus which means larger scale. 1. Commercial Buses

Commercial buses are large buses that are typically designed to either export large tourist groups or even bands to and from city to city. As a bus service technician, your job will not only to be sure that the commercial bus is safe enough to export people to and from certain areas but that everything will last the distance the bus needs to travel. For instance, will the oil that you use during the oil change help the bus get from one state to another safely without the engine blowing out? 

2. School Buses

In order to work on school buses, you likely will have to get a contract with school districts to ensure that you not only pass a background check but that you also have the training needed to work on school buses. Because it is a school district's responsibility to ensure that students get from their homes to school safely every day, they need to make sure that the bus service technicians working on their buses are the best in the business. 

3. City Buses

Another type of bus that you may work o is a local city bus. These buses have the responsibility of not only transporting people safely but on a strict schedule. If a bus or several buses are in the shop being repaired, then it throws the entire bus schedule off which makes peoples commutes longer and stresses people out. All of this results in a lot of negative press for the local transit authority, which means that if you work on city buses, your job is especially important. 

Going to a technician school to become a bus service technician is a career that you know you can count on. If you get a contract to work for any of these specialized industries, make sure that you take your job seriously because they may provide you with your livelihood for the rest of your career.
